Even prominent artists like Eminem acknowledged her in his song “Killshot,” with the lyrics “Go play, feel like I’m babysitting Lil Tay.” However, the shocking news of Lil Tay’s untimely demise, along with that of her brother, came to light on August 9, 2023. A young artist’s life was tragically cut short. Based on our sources, she was just 14 years old at the time of her passing. Her true identity was Claire Eileen Qi Hope.
Turning the clock back to 2017, Lil Tay managed to generate an enormous wave of excitement, swiftly becoming a global sensation as she flaunted her youth and wealth across various social media platforms. Although a prevailing negative sentiment existed during that period, a dedicated faction of her followers genuinely adored her and has continued to do so ever since.
It remains an established fact that a significant portion of rap artists not only boast about their wealth but also dabble in drug-related activities. Her rise to fame was, in part, fueled by critical commentary from prominent figures including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and the YouTuber RiceGum.

Yet, following the COVID-19 pandemic, her prominence slowly faded from public view. Then, in 2023, a profoundly disheartening piece of news shook everyone unexpectedly.
Reflecting on the narrative, it appears that her parents aimed to rebrand her image; however, throughout this process, her father encountered numerous allegations.
Wikipedia states that in June 2018, a public figure named Hope experienced a notable sequence of events. Her Instagram and YouTube content were abruptly removed as part of a strategic rebranding effort following the resurgence of a controversial video from December 2017, wherein she used an offensive term directed at a racial group. Several months later, allegations of abuse involving her father emerged on her Instagram account. Discrepancies arose as her promoter attributed the allegations to a hack, while her manager alleged the potential involvement of her family members in disseminating false information. This situation underscores the intricacies of managing online images, familial disputes, and media attention.
Exactly on August 9, 2023, Lil Tay’s Instagram account was updated to announce her passing. The post on the Instagram account read:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief. During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation. Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.”
Adding to the already startling developments, the news of her brother’s passing is equally heart-wrenching. The Instagram post discloses that her brother, identified as Jason Tian, has also left us tragically, at the tender age of 21. While the specific cause of Lil Tay’s passing still remains undisclosed, the Instagram post provides only limited insight into the circumstances.
Lil Tay’s last Instagram post before her passing is dated June 19, 2018, and notably, it pays tribute to XXXTentacion. In the post, she reverently portrays him as a fatherly figure. Her poignant closing statement reads, “I can’t believe this, the malevolence in this world – it’s not right. Goodbye, I love you bro.” This sequence of events sparks speculation that Lil Tay might have been deeply impacted by the untimely demise of the renowned rap artist, Xxxtenacion.
